“Kraplya do Krapli” – a project about life. In the first two months of 2021, Ukrainians saved more than 2500 lives by joining the donor movement

The culture of free voluntary donation is gradually being revived in our country. This is significantly helped by the long-term charitable initiative “Kraplya do Krapli”, formed in October 2020 by two partners – the “DonorUA” project and the brand “Pryrodne Dzherelo”. The success of the collaboration demonstrates that the combined efforts of big business and community activists can bring significant benefits to the country and its citizens in need.

The last two months of winter have been surprisingly fruitful. Despite the long holidays, the pace of the charitable work on the part of the participants of the “Kraplya do Krapli” project has not slowed down. On the contrary, the circle of ideological supporters has only grown, uniting both blood donors and consumers of artesian drinking water “Pryrodne Dzherelo”, who, by regularly buying the water, automatically invest in the development of the donor movement. As a result, in the period from New Year’s Day to the end of winter, 237 436 hryvnias were collected, 867 new donors were attracted, and 2 601 lives were saved. A total of 591 142 hryvnias of financial assistance has already been collected and 2 233 donors have become involved since the project began, saving 6 699 lives. The data is constantly being updated on the website https://pd.donor.ua, where an interactive meter is installed.

“We are delighted to see the ‘butterfly effect’ of kindness, which, while launched only a few months ago, is gradually rising to a tsunami of strong support from concerned Ukrainians. More and more volunteers are appearing at the donation points, and bottles of “Pryrodne Dzherelo” water are flying off the shelves, with part of the proceeds from those sales set aside for the development of the ”Kraplya do Krapli” project. And this is very encouraging, because the activities related to saving human lives can neither slow down nor interrupt. We have a lot of ideas and plans for 2021, and with the level of involvement we feel now, we will soon be closer to our first goal – raising 1 510 000 hryvnias, attracting 10 247 new donors and saving 30 741 lives”, – commented on the donor activity indicators Elena Selyutina, Communications Director of New Products Group.

In January and February, the efforts of the “Kraplya do Krapli” team were mainly focused on the development of an informational and educational campaign, which started in November. The purpose of the educational series is to provide potential and regular blood donors with key information about leading a healthy lifestyle and its relationship to donation. Accordingly, the leitmotif of the last two months was the topic “Bad habits and donation”.

“It’s no secret that human health is a valuable resource that should be protected and maintained. Health is about youth, vigor, plans for the future, love, and energy. And health is about the ability to give. When we have the resource, we are ready for superhero actions. Therefore, it is important for us to inform our current and potential donors, because it is healthy people who are the driving force behind the development of the donor movement. Therefore, it is necessary to talk about important elements that affect human health, which is what we have been doing for two months in a row with the help of national experts”, said Iryna Slavinska-Ritzner, the founder of DonorUA.

An important part of the activities on the topic “Bad habits and donation” was the webinar “Healthy habits – for a long and healthy life” held on February 8 with a special guest – the chief physician of the Kyiv City Health Centre Otto Stoyko. The speaker talked in detail about how to maintain health, prolong youth, and why donation is the basis for this. On February 25, another interesting event took place – a webinar on self-medication and inappropriate use of antibiotics, which was presented by Roman Kolesnyk, Head of the Antimicrobial Resistance and Infection Control Department of the Public Health Centre of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine.

This spring marks one year since the introduction of quarantine measures in Ukraine in connection with the global COVID pandemic. This year, help is already on the way, and the society is actively discussing the important topic of vaccination against the disease. Therefore, as part of the “Kraplya do Krapli” initiative, March will focus on the extremely relevant topic “Vaccination and Donation”. The fundamental aspects of this issue, thorough expert opinions and a lot of useful information, will be available for all those interested.

Donation is not just about donating blood or blood components. Donation is about a person, one’s care for oneself and empathy for others. It is about the exchange of precious energy contained in every drop of blood and water, which is the very basis of life. So anyone who knows how to take care of their own health and is ready to give a chance at life to others, can register at any time on the official website of “DonorUA” and choose a convenient donation location. If for some reason it is not possible to become a donor, you can join the donor movement simply by regularly consuming drinking artesian water “Pryrodne Dzherelo” with a special label on the package.

We recommend participating in all the interesting events organized by the  “Kraplya do Krapli” project and follow the latest news on the platforms “DonorUA” and New Products Group on social networks. It is also important to share with friends and acquaintances the ideological manifesto of the project, embodied in the social video of the charity initiative “Kraplya do Krapli”.
